I created LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com) online courses for students seeking to become web developers.
Instructor and content creator for 2 web development courses.
LinkedIn Learning relies on its teachers to ideate as well as create the content for their online courses. I found my topics by looking through the current LinkedIn Learning and Lynda catalogs to see what pertinent tech topics were missing.
I proposed and created an "evergreen" course on creating a simple website using free bootstrap templates online.
I also found there were no courses available on adding colors, fonts, etc. to a command line interface, so I created a course on customizing the look of your terminal.
Combined, these courses have reached over 10,000+ learners. I love the impact I’ve had. Plus, I get the benefit of seeing students earn a certificate from my bootstrap website class when they share it on their timelines.
Teaching, especially online, forces us to change our perspective. I love switching gears into a beginner’s mindset; I’ll try to think of different ways that a learner might better grasp a new topic. Teaching also reinforces our mastery, so I end up building up more of my own confidence and skills.
